December 2023 - At PayPal, everyone was universally smart, ambitious and worked like crazy - how to know if you should stay at a startup? How quickly they ship, solve problems, talent - with open store, for Shopify merchants they don’t have stress and store is run for them. For consumers, they can discover products they didn’t know they want - figure out the biggest risk before you start and assign people to solve them. Figure out the right person for that role - you need to find people based on undiscovered talent. People who haven’t proven anything. That is the only way to compete as a startup against big companies - most people like this have an extraordinary trait. You need to meet in person - your time is the most important asset - he doesn’t predict trends. He has founders tell them why their ideas are good - ideally you would take deals from your networks network as you can find more data points about the people. But there are many people who are not in network so you have to do that too - get 8 hours quality sleep - find ways to do the same thing every day. Focus on doing the important few things every day. If you miss one, you will miss all - when making decisions, strictly rank your priorities and go down. Don’t do pros and cons - value your time!! It’s the only resource that you have. Be willing to say no to almost everything

If you're saying that people should be working nights and weekends because the company is owed 40 hours of work from each employee per week, then I think you're a horrible person. Like, among the most horrible of people. If that's how you run your business, I hope you go out of business soon.
